In today's healthcare facilities, access to patient information at the point of care is vital - allowing healthcare professionals to work more efficiently and effectively. Computing equipment used for patient care applications must be designed so that the care giver can focus on taking care of the patient, not the computer. Unfortunately, most computer products are not designed for hospital use.

Datalux has been building products for hospitals and healthcare since 1990 and thousands of IPIX computers are installed in hospitals and clinics. The IPIX computer is the computer designed specifically for healthcare.

IPIX 17in and 20inThe IPIX all-in-one computer is available with either a 17" SXGA LCD display or a 20" UXGA display. Many software vendors recommend a minimum 17" display to allow viewing of important clinical data. Many hospitals and healthcare professionals prefer a 17" or larger display for their viewing comfort.

The IPIX answers the question of “where to mount the CPU?" by providing a compact, integrated package (less than 2.5" deep and weighing less than 11 pounds) that can easily be incorporated into your overall design. The IPIX is available with an internal 802.11a/b/g/n wireless adapter, but you can also add your own ExpressCard or PCMCIA wireless card using the top-mounted PCMCIA slot and cover.

Infection Control: The IPIX all-in-one is designed to be easily cleaned for disinfections. In place of vents and fans, the IPIX prevents ingress of dirt, dust and microbes by using internal thermal piping to conduct heat away from the system. All molded plastic parts incorporate an antimicrobial additive to prevent the growth of micro-organisms as an additional protective measure. The glass face on the IPIX all-in-one protects the LCD display and lets the unit be wiped clean for infection control.

IEC-60601 approved*: With IEC-60601-1 certification, you can be confident that the IPIX can be used safely in patient care applications. A built-in wireless network card can provide mobile access to the hospital network and patient records.

Rugged: Often, in a hospital environment, the computer gets shoved out of the way quickly to deal with patient emergencies. The IPIX is designed for rugged use and includes a shock-mounted hard drive to continue working under conditions that would be punishing to other computer systems. The hard drive is the only moving part on the IPIX system.

Easy to Upgrade/Service: New to the Core2Duo-based IPIX system is a removable SATA disk drive, allowing easy upgrades and permitting the removal if the unit is returned for repair (as required by many hospitals). An 80G HDD is provided, and larger HDDs can be specified. An access panel also provides access to the memory slot, allowing the user to upgrade from the standard 1GB DDR2 DRAM to 2GB DRAM.

Versatility: A standard VESA mount allows the versatile 2.5" deep, 11 pound IPIX to be mounted almost anywhere - in patient rooms, hallways, OR's, ER's, admitting lobbies, nursing stations. You'll find the IPIX in hospitals on desktop mounts, wall mounts, on extended overhead arms, on mobile carts with battery packs for mobile use, mounted on dialysis equipment - just about anywhere. Power and peripheral connectors are all located in a protected recess on the back of the IPIX.

Energy Efficient: Power to the IPIX can be provided by a medical grade AC adapter or a rechargeable battery pack. Utilizing the Intel Core2 Duo processor, the IPIX was designed to be energy efficient, allowing long battery life for mobile applications and energy conservation for fixed use. An optional internal battery provides backup power, allowing the computer to remain operational and connected to a wireless network during power interruption or when relocating the unit.

The IPIX all-in-one computer from Datalux is the computer designed specifically for healthcare and is available from Datalux and qualified systems integrators.

* The new IPIX is designed to be IEC-60601-1 certified. Certification is pending.
